The Belgacom Group's strategic vision is based on three pillars and revolves around four focal points.

A high-quality network which stimulates organic growth
Thanks to the investments it has made over the past few years, the Belgacom Group boasts an excellent fixed and mobile network. Belgium occupies a leading position in terms of broadband penetration, with 99.85% of households covered. Thanks to its combination of ADSL and VDSL networks, 86% of households have access to Belgacom TV and over 66% of the population can take advantage of the high-definition television offering.

In parallel, the Belgacom Group - via its Proximus subsidiary - was the first mobile operator in Belgium to invest in the 3G network and upgrade it to equip it with HSDPA. The 3G coverage rate today exceeds 90%.

A long-term vision based on convergence
Buoyed by the quality of our networks, we wish to offer our customers products that combine fixed and mobile telephony and the Internet. The objective consists of having our single-play customer offers evolve to multiplay offers by proposing innovative product packs.

A disciplined approach to acquisitions
The Belgacom Group remains attentive to the domestic market and seeks growth opportunities through deals that create value.

  • The Group is present in the fast-growing mobile payments market through Tunz, Mobile-for and PingPing, a completely new brand which is intended to spearhead and become the symbol of mobile payments in Belgium.
  • Through its acquisition of Scarlet, the Group has gained access to a new market segment and is reinforcing its range of multiplay products in Belgium.
Growth opportunities outside Belgium are monitored in a disciplined way. The acquisition of Tango - the second largest Luxembourgish mobile player - fits in perfectly with this strategy.

Customer satisfaction
We are focusing our efforts on enhancing our customer service and making customer satisfaction one of the cornerstones of our strategy. It is by continuing our efforts vis-à-vis our customers that we will maintain our leadership position and consolidate our market shares.

Profitable growth
The Group aims to respond as effectively as possible to the expectations of its residential and professional customers. That is why we are developing segmented offers in order to provide every customer with more products and solutions which are guaranteed easy to use. Our motto is: "Anytime, any place, via any device".

Innovation and transformation
Innovation is a state of mind within the Group. Over the years, the Group has managed to adapt its networks and the related applications. The fact that two thirds of our revenue currently comes from products which did not exist 15 years ago is proof of this. This perfectly illustrates the Group's capacity for innovation.

Operational excellence
We recently reached a new milestone in the transformation of the Belgacom Group with the integration of the Staff & Support Business Unit. This further step towards convergence enables the Group to not only achieve economies of scale, but also to optimize its working methods and create new synergies within the Group.
