Ultra-fast mobile Internet in eight cities in Belgium

Today, Belgacom has become the first operator in Belgium to launch ultra-fast mobile Internet on the market. The new Proximus 4G network enables customers to surf on their smartphone, laptop or tablet faster than was ever possible before. This means that, on the go, customers have a similar user experience as they have with a fixed Internet connection. In comparison with 3G Mobile Internet via 4G offers more user convenience, faster connections, and excellent image quality for watching videos. Customers have access to the ultra-fast internet via a selection of tariff plans and options. Belgacom also sells 4G devices in its stores: the 4G USB modem for computers and laptops, the Mobile Wi-Fi 4G, and (in the course of November) the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3 4G.

In June 2011, Belgacom started rolling out the first 4G network in Belgium. Today, Belgacom has become the first operator to launch it commercially in eight cities: Hasselt, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Liège, Namur, Mons, Waver and the Haasrode Industrial Park.

More user convenience, faster connections, and excellent image quality

The Proximus high-speed 3G mobile network has been expanded with 4G technology. Surfing via the 3G network is already fast, but via 4G it goes ultra-fast. This means customers can use their smartphone, laptop or tablet on the go and expect a similar user experience as they have with a fixed Internet connection.

With 4G, users can watch videos with excellent image quality, download or upload data faster, and play games even faster than before. Using or sharing heavy applications (e.g. consulting an extensive customer database) is super-fast.

Customers have access to the ultra-fast internet via a selection of tariff plans and options.

Access to the 4G network is included in a selection of tariff plans with mobile internet and options. Those specific tariff plans and options offer the customer sufficient mobile internet volume to enjoy all the opportunities of the 4G-network.

Residential customers with a smartphone have a choice of the following tariff plans:

  • Smart 75” (unlimited calls & SMS and 5GB mobile internet for €75)
  • The web based prepaid offer “Generation Connect” (2GB mobile internet, 2,000 SMS and up to 80 minutes calls on every reload of €20)

Customers who want access to 4G on a smartphone can also activate the option “Internet on GSM” (as from €19,99 for 2GB).

Professional customers with a smartphone can opt for “Bizz Mobile+ All In” (unlimited calls and SMS and 5GB mobile internet for €70 excl. VAT).

4G on a laptop or tablet is available with the option “Mobile Internet” with 1GB or more.

The mobile internet volume of 5GB (instead of 1GB) in “Smart 75” and Bizz Mobile+ All In” is a “mobile internet edition) available until 31/1/2013.

Customers can always check their mobile data usage via the free Hello! app or the e-Services on the Belgacom website (www.belgacom.be).

4G mobile devices

To have access to the Proximus 4G network, customers need a mobile device equipped with 4G technology. They can then surf via 3G and 4G. Belgacom offers the following 4G devices: the Samsung Galaxy S3 4G smartphone (available in the course of November) at the price of €699 with cashback of €100, the 4G USB modem for computers and laptops at €149, and the Mobile Wi-Fi 4G (a personal hotspot to whom you can connect several Wi-Fi devices) at €199.
