You sent 27.013 text messages in support of organisations helping homeless people.
In 1 week our Proximus customers sent 27.013 text messages (worth a total of 27.013 EUR) in support of Belgian organisations helping homeless people and the less fortunate. The collected sum will be donated to: Croix Rouge de Belgique, Rode Kruis Vlaanderen, Samusocial and Restos du Coeur. The past weeks Belgacom employees have already supported the same initiative through text messages and they’ve also been collecting blankets, warm clothing and funds which were gladly welcomed by these organisations.
To avoid people having to spend the night out in the cold, Belgacom installed about a hundred beds in its buildings in Schaerbeek and Ixelles. Homeless people were welcomed there for the night: a roof above their head, heating, water, toilets, a hot meal, and breakfast. Samusocial mentioned they urgently needed a minivan to transport donated goods from one place to another. We made one of our vans available and thought it a good opportunity to provide some insight into Samusocial's daily efforts to help homeless people in Belgium (watch the video below).
These actions are part of Belgacom’s continuing effort to make a contribution to improving the quality of life of the communities we are part of.
