Ethias League: the best two matches live every week, exclusively on Belgacom 5

This weekend, the basketball season is getting under way on Belgacom TV for the second year in a row, with live coverage of the best matches of the Ethias League, exclusively on Belgacom 5. The new 2012-2013 season will kick off on Saturday 6 October at 5:30 p.m. with Okapi Aalstar vs Belgacom Spirou Basket.


Launch of the live broadcast of the best of Belgian basketball on Belgacom TV 

Belgacom TV will broadcast, either live or on a deferred basis, at least two matches per day along with all the Ethias League play-offs. These matches can be watched not only on Belgacom TV but also on a tablet, smartphone, PC or Mac. The first live broadcast can be seen this Saturday 6 October at 5:30 p.m. on Belgacom 5, the Belgacom TV channel devoted entirely to basketball, featuring the match of the first championship day between Okapi Aalstar and Belgacom Spirou Basket.v

Experienced production and editorial teams

Like last year, the BLB will be in charge of the production, in cooperation with the production companies DB Video, RTC and TéléSambre. The matches will be filmed by about seven cameras and accompanied by commentary in French and Dutch. The BLB and Belgacom will work with the same team of experienced and dedicated journalists: for French, former international players such as Duke Tschomba and Daniel Goethals and journalist Yoann Mahieu; and for Dutch, Steve Ibens, Pat Gevaert and Pascal Angilis as consultants, with Dirk Jacobs and Sven van den Abbeele as the main commentators.

Two basketball fixtures per weekend

On each championship day, Belgacom TV subscribers can watch the best two matches of the day for free on Belgacom 5 (channel 555). To offer its subscribers as many matches as possible, and ensure maximum exposure for the clubs and sponsors, these two matches will usually be shifted to Friday 8:30 p.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.  The first fixtures are as follows:
