Moving to all IP
This mobile network switch is part of Belgacom's revolutionary "Move to all IP" (MaIP) program, which heralds a smarter, faster, more energy-efficient and more economical network for the group's activities now and into the future. MaIP allows us to evolve beyond maintaining a separate dedicated infrastructure for each service, offering little capacity for convergence, and to construct a future proof shared infrastructure for all services, with full integration of fixed and mobile.
“Move to all IP” has three main objectives:
- A network transformation where legacy technologies which are end-of-life will gradually be replaced by IP based alternatives to cope with the growing demand of bandwidth.
- An IT transformation that will bring more efficiency through further automation and the reduction of handling time of manual work.
- The customer interaction model will shift towards more customer self management giving the customer more control during interactions such as sales, installation, repair.
